2009 Scholastic Honors Night

On March 19, 2009, Christian Brothers Academy held its annual Scholastic Honors Night at Temple Adath Yeshurun to honor students who have exhibited academic excellence. Dressed in formal academic regalia, the CBA faculty processed in, while hundreds of families attended. During the evening, students in grades seven through 12 were recognized for achieving High Honors and Honors during the first semester of the academic year.

This year’s program honored Victoria Mannion, English Department chairperson, as the 2008-2009 Lasallian Educator of the Year for exhibiting the Lasallian values of teaching fostered by the Christian Brothers. In addition, the faculty presented Brother Thomas Zoppo, FSC, principal, with a gift in thanks for his dedication to the school over the past 6 years. Zoppo will leave CBA for an assignment as president of Calvert Hall College High School, Baltimore, Md., at the end of this school year

General excellence awards were presented to two students in each class for outstanding academic achievement. Honorees were:

  • Class of 2011: Anthony Carno; Next in Merit: Brendan McIntyre
  • Class of 2012: Cameron MacPherson; Next in Merit: Emily Procopio
  • Class of 2013: Zachary Taylor; Next in Merit: Summer Schmitt

In addition, senior Annie Buckel was honored as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.

Seniors Noah Kotlove, Rachel Powell, Hersh Sangani, Stefan Schonsheck and Melissa Zajdel were recognized as National Merit Commended students.

Junior Chyleigh Harmon received the Sarah Lombardi Pietrafesa Scholarship for Mastery in Music.
