The French Club is alive and well at CBA! Under the direction of Dr. Toni Dalakos,
the Club kicked off its 2001-02 activities with the traditional Christopher Columbus
Bake Sale. The sale featured loads of goodies which were sold to the entire school.
With the profits, the club members will be treated to an authentic French meal
at the new French restaurant, L'Dour, in downtown Syracuse.
The Club also hosted its annual "La Boum" (that's "party"
in French) for the 7th and 8th graders. Club members decorated frames with "La
Boum V", as it was our fifth year! The frames will serve as a lasting souvenir
of the great time at the dance. Club members sold soda and frames - and also decorated
for this dance as well as promoted it with colorful posters.
December finds the French Club celebrating in a traditional French way, eating
"Buche de Noel", singing French cantiques and learning about French
"santons" (maybe even making a few of these traditional French manger
figures ourselves!)
French movies and of course food (tartines - French bread and Nutella) usually
are a sign of our meetings. The meetings are times for fun and fellowship - something
we don't always have time for in the classroom.
We may be few in numbers at CBA, but we are long on spirit and enthusiasm!
Vive La France from Dr. Dalakos and le club francais!
