First Annual Alumni Ski Event

About a dozen alums, former chaperones, and friends gathered in the ‘mini lodge’ at Labrador Mountain on Saturday, January 9, 2010 for the 1st Annual Alumni Ski Event. Despite intense cold from an Arctic blast that gripped the area, several skiers braved the elements and hit the slopes. A warm lodge, delicious assortment of food, and spirited conversation welcomed the skiers during their numerous breaks from the frigid air.

David Marshall ’02, who had never been on skis, took his inaugural run thanks to the gentle coaching and coaxing of his girlfriend, Andrea Nicoletti ’01. Afterwards, he even returned to the hill for more! They were joined on the slopes by alums Mike Bongiovanni ’72; Joey Nicoletti ’06; Ron Pelligra ’72; Maria (Lazipone) Podbelski ’01; Dave Venditti ’78; and former moderator, Joe Nicoletti. The skiers were treated to great slope conditions, and all attendees enjoyed the company and camaraderie of fellow Nordic ‘Brothers.’

The event was a great bargain for participants, thanks to the special rate for passes and equipment rentals offered by Labrador Mountain. The refreshments, sponsored by the Alumni Association and by former chaperones, Joe and Rita Nicoletti C’74 and Dave and Julie Venditti, were bountiful and tasty – in the true tradition of the CBA ski club.
