About a dozen alums and friends of CBA braved the unseasonable cold and torrential rain on October 15th to join Helen Kelley and Principal Br. Joseph Jozwiak, FSC at the Galway Hooker bar in mid-town Manhattan. Br. Richard Galvin, FSC and Br. Robert Deary, FSC, members of the St. Raymond’s Community in the Bronx, were in attendance and enjoyed listening to the fond memories and amusing stories shared by the alums.

catch up on CBA and family news. |
Sandra Chase C’64 provided a ‘Convent School’ (Franciscan Academy) retrospective, giving those gathered a new insight into the shared history of CBA and its one time sister school. Beth Storinge ’89 had a particular interest in this conversation, as she had attended the Franciscan Academy for two years before it closed in the summer of 1987.

enjoy some spirits at the Galway Hooker bar. |
Kathryn Nave ’02 had been active in planning and spreading the word about the event, and she made several last minute attempts to coax other NYC alums out of their warm apartments. She was soon swept up in spirited and animated reminiscing and catching up with her fellow ‘Brothers’ on hand, and all in attendance were proud and happy to share their common bond.
The following alums joined us for this special evening:

This annual event is an integral activity for the CBA Alumni Office to extend its reach beyond Central New York and to foster alumni connections.
Check out the 2009-2010 Alumni Calendar and on facebook for dates for similar regional events in Rochester, DC, and Boston. The office is also considering adding a Florida event in the spring of 2010. Let’s hope for good weather for these upcoming gatherings!
