The weekend-long celebration of CBA graduating classes ending in “3” and “8” was a rousing success! The festivities began on Friday, June 27, with a special gathering at the school of over 20 alums and their guests from the Class of 1988.
The evening’s activities included ping-pong, basketball, chipping/putting contests, tours of the Randall Rd. campus, and much reminiscing and updating among the alums. All who attended were treated to a delicious Greek buffet and popular songs from the ’80’s. As this was the 20th Reunion for the first graduating class from CBA to include women, an article/photo of this newsworthy event appeared in Saturday’s edition of the Syracuse Post Standard!
A huge thank-you to the organizers of this special evening: Jim Battaglia, Mikell DiGiorgio, and Matt Matthews.

Drumlins Country Club hosted the All-Alumni Reunion Banquet on Saturday, June 28. Close to 100 alums and their guests as well as Brother Thomas Zoppo, principal; Patti Callahan, Director of Development; and Helen Kelley, Coordinator for Alumni gathered to celebrate CBA Classes ending in “3” and “8,” from the Classes of 1948- 2003. Those in attendance dined on a tasty ‘summer sampling’ buffet, and were entertained by the meticulously selected and varied musical stylings of DJ, John Dillon ’99. Memorabilia items from 6 decades of CBA history were available, which sparked much reminiscing and multi-generational mingling.
The Class of 1988 had the largest number of alums attending the event (17), followed by the Class of 1998 (10). Jason Furgal ’98 travelled the farthest to attend…all the way from Sunnyvale, CA! John Sindoni ’63 was recognized as having the most children of those in attendance…6. And a special nod was given to the Class of 2003, as they were represented by 8 alums…quite a good showing for such a young group of alums. CBA mugs and tire gauges were given as mementos of the event

On Sunday morning alums, their families, and several members of the CBA community gathered in the school’s chapel to celebrate the Reunion Mass. Msgr. Ronald Bill ’49 officiated at the Mass and Mikell DiGiorgio ’88 performed a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria during communion. Following Mass, the group enjoyed a breakfast buffet in the cafeteria. A ‘traditional’ photo was taken of the children in attendance at Sunday’s events.

This most enjoyable and gratifying weekend is still a relatively new format for CBA, as it is only the 4th year the school has hosted a multiple-year reunion. Each year, the number of attendees has grown, and we anticipate another record crowd at next year’s celebration for the classes ending in “4” and “9,” scheduled for June 26-28, 2009.
The CBA Development Office will begin planning for this event this summer, and anyone interested in being a member of a class reunion planning committee, or would like further information on the 2009 All-Alumni Reunion weekend please contact Helen Kelley at: (315) 446-5960, ext. 1122 or hkelley@cbasyracuse.org.
