My name is John Marzocchi, and I am the President of the CBA Syracuse Alumni Association. As a graduate of CBA, you are one of the close to 7,500 alumni from across the globe with automatic membership in the Association, which was formed to promote the best interests of the students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni of Christian Brothers Academy. The group actively engages in and supports events and/or pursuits to encourage and maintain academic, athletic, and cultural excellence, and to preserve and nourish the spiritual values and moral tenets of the Lasallian mission.
Our calendar is brimming with activities from the time-honored Homecoming Tailgate in September and the Memorial Mass and Breakfast in November to the annual Golf Scramble in June. Numerous sporting events including football, soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, and lacrosse offer the opportunity for alums to once again meet and compete on the playing fields and arenas. Annual Regional receptions are a goal for NYC, DC, Rochester, and Boston which allow for those farther-flung "Brothers" to reconnect and share memories of their CBA days…and additional events are being considered in Florida and California to expand our outreach to the alums who have fled the Syracuse winters and made the warmer climes their home.
The Alumni Office works closely with Class Representatives to plan 50th Jubilee Reunion Weekend activities which coincide with graduation in June – a very special and memorable gathering to celebrate a most impressive milestone! The Alumni Office focuses on encouraging classes celebrating their 10th, 25th, 40th reunions to work with us to plan their event(s). Additionally we will do our best to support any class in any year who wants to pursue a reunion.
The last Monday in June is reserved for the CBA Alumni Golf Scramble. The event usually features a sell-out crowd of alumni, family and friends of the school and raises funds for the Alumni Association activities and scholarships.
In addition to sponsoring and coordinating these and other alumni events, the Association and its members are very involved with supporting the advancement needs of the school. Class Representatives participate in the annual Alumni Phonathon in October and November to solicit donations to the Annual Fund, which helps support the families who need financial assistance and bridges the gap between tuition and the actual cost of operating the school.
The group also funds four $500 scholarships to children of alumni for each of their 4 years at CBA, and a $1,000 Distinguished Senior Award presented yearly to a deserving graduate.
The CBA Alumni Association holds meetings at the school on the second Tuesday of every month (excluding January, July, and August). I encourage you to get involved with the Association – we need your input, insights, and often, the extra sets of hands. Check out the Get Involved section of the website to learn more about how you can help.
Please consider sharing your time, your energy, and your gifts to ensure the ‘Brotherhood’ remains vibrant and strong! St. John Baptist de La Salle, Pray for us. Live Jesus in our Hearts, Forever!
Sincerely,

John Marzocchi ’77
