New york voices

concert info

New York Voices was formed in 1987 by Darmon Meader, Peter Eldridge, Kim Nazarian, Caprice Fox, and Sara Krieger; Darmon, Peter, Kim, and Caprice attended Ithaca College. Their College vocal jazz ensemble experiences-especially as part of an alumni group that had been formed to tour the European jazz festivals in the summer of 1986—contributed to the idea of forming a professional group. After a few personnel changes from 1992 to 1994, the ensemble became the quartet it is today. From 1989 to 1994 NYV released four CDs on the GRP label. The group released two more CDs after moving to RCA Victor in 1997. NYV has made many guest appearances on recordings and during live performances that have earned the ensemble critical acclaim and high demand in a variety of musical settings. The group has performed with a number of influential jazz artists including Ray Brown, Bobby McFerrin, Nancy Wilson, and George Benson.

The New York Voices will be performing at Ithaca College on Friday, November 5th at 8:15 PM. Any students wishing to attend should see Mr. Caraher for more information.
