Grading:
Your average will be
calculated using points not percents; that is your average is the total number
of points you have earned divided by the total number of points.
Class Work is done during class and handed in at the end of class. It is not to
be taken home since these are graded. If you are absent from class you must come
in to make up the class work. Make arrangements with me .
Homework is given daily and will include reading and note taking as we work our
way through the book. The purpose of homework is to practice what you have
learned in class, determine if you understood what was taught and to learn to
use your text book as a resource. Homework is worth 3 points if collected and 1
point if checked.
If
you were in class the day of the assignment, homework will not be accepted late
if you are in school.
Quizzes: You will have at least two quizzes a week, based upon the homework,
this includes unannounced quizzes.
Tests will be based upon your quizzes, class notes, daily reading and any class
work. All tests are cumulative and you will be expected to know material from
previous units.
Class Preparation: Each
student will start out with 20 points,
Extra Credit: there is
no extra credit
Missing Graded work: You are responsible for
knowing what work you will be missing and making up the work and arrange time
with me to get help.
Missing
Class
·
Planned Absences: When you know you
will be missing class for more then one day, for any reason, you must let me
know at least three days ahead of time so we can come up with a time line for
the make up work, otherwise it is due the day you return. Everything will be
found on the web site.
·
Missing class because of coming
later to school or leaving early: If you are in school it is your obligation to
get the work and to turn in the assignment for that class on time. You are not
excused from knowing the material and being ready for the next days class. Turn
in the assignment that was due before you leave school or sometime during the
day: put it in my mailbox in the office.
·
If you miss a test or quiz because
you are absent the day it is given, expect to take it the next day, preferably
before school. Otherwise you will take the test, quiz, class work during class.
It is expected that you do all class work and the homework that was assigned.
Since Class work is graded it is to be done with me, you will not be given the
class work to take home and complete, nor will it posted on the web site. To
maintain the integrity of tests/quizzes and Class Work it is necessary that you
take them with me at a place that I can supervise you
·
. If you are absent due to illness
then other arrangements will be made and we will determine the time line for you
to make up the work
Class Preparation:
To be prepared for you class means you have all you materials for class, come in
on time, are in dress code and following school and class behavior rules, have
your assignment completed and have either taken missed tests/quizzes/Class work
or made arrangements with me to do so.
·
You should not becoming late to
class for any reason as it disrupts class . Coming late is not acceptable
·
You should be taking notes and
paying attention and not.
·
You should not distract from the
learning process by talking to your neighbor during instruction, getting out of
your seat, etc
Expectations:
My expectations are as
follows:
·
Be on time for class, in dress code
and with no gum, no food or drinks
·
No cell phones or other electronic
devices should be on your person.
·
Have required Materials
·
Absolutely NO passes to leave the
room will be given during class (unless it’s an emergency)! These types of
interruptions are very annoying and affect the class in a negative way.
·
You are NOT to get up during class
unless you have permission or if it is an emergency. If you need to get a tissue
or sharpen your pencil, please do so before class
·
You will have read, studied and
taken notes from the current section we are working on..
·
Have assigned work completed and
your questions ready. (both study and written)
·
I should never get the question
"What did I miss" as I expect you to consult the class Web site and know exactly
what you missed and to have all notes/materials in hand:
·
Notify me when you know are missing
class ( not as you walk into class) so we can formulate a plan for making up
work when you return. Failure to do this means everything is due the day you
return, including taking tests/quizzes or you will receive zero's.. It is your
responsibility to make these arrangements at least a week in advance..
If
you are taken out of class for an extended period of time, the choice was made
not to have you present when the material was taught. Do not expect to be taught
the material. I will gladly help you if you need it but the choice has been
made.
·
Show respect
·
Sit in your designated
seat and stay in it until the bell for change of classes rings
·
Take notes and be attentive to what
is being taught, "Math is not a spectator sport" raise your hand if you have a
question.
My Availability:
Preferably you set up a time to meet with me by e-mail or before homeroom. I
am teaching 3 different courses so it will be a juggling act with respect to
after school help. You can stop by anytime but realize you might have to wait.
DO NOT try to schedule a time with me as you are walking into class as there is
no time to do so before class. You deserve my attention and it can not be given
in the chaotic interval between classes. It is your responsibility to get to
school before homeroom so you can see your teachers or to contact them via
e-mail..
· I am always available after school
from 2:40 until 3:30 except on Wednesday's (Meeting day)
Feel free to just stop in and work on assignments
