The CBA High School Robotics team has had a successful year, competing in three local tournaments in the 2016-17 VEX competition, called “Starstruck.”
The goal for the year was to lift and drop scoring objects over a 2-3-foot fence. The team competed with schools/clubs from all across the region at the Liverpool Competition, and at the Fulton Competition.
At the Fulton competition, the team took down the number one ranked alliance during the tournament to move on to the semi-finals, before getting knocked out. The team’s performance at both competitions earned them another trip to the Northern NY State Tournament at the SRC Arena to compete with some of the best teams in the area.
At this tournament, the main core of the team (Kevin Craig, Jake Swanson, Vince Carno, and Nick Merola) did a great job competing and finishing 14th in Team Skills out of 64 teams there. They qualified for the afternoon tournament, but were eliminated in the first round. Other members of the team that also contributed to the final product and have competed at earlier tournaments include Peter Assaf, Mike LaDuca, and Lucy Person.
