As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the generosity of the CBA community.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, more than 300 friends and family came together to take part in something truly amazing. It was on this day that Peer Ministry hosted a flag football tournament to benefit Jack Sheridan, a junior at our school who is battling cancer. The event was a huge success. We not only raised approximately $13,000 for Jack and his family, but we were able to give our love and support to them in a time when it is most needed.
The Peer Ministers wanted to do something special for Jack for his birthday weekend, and then before we knew it, the flag football tournament came together piece by piece and we could not be any happier with the way things turned out.
Some students who were playing flag football (in the freezing weather!) shared their thoughts of the event:
“I’m proud to be out here to support Jack. He’s one of my good friends and this is a great way for the CBA community to come together and unite as one and help support our boy that’s fighting through something really tough right now. We know that as a CBA community we have to stay strong and help one of our own. We are so grateful for the Brothers community.” Senior Matt Burns
“I am really glad to be out here supporting my friend Jack. He’s my teammate and really good friend, and I’m glad to see everyone out here supporting Jack too.” Sophomore Dom Spinoso
“I’m thankful to be a part of Peer Ministry and help organize this. This is such a great cause, and it’s so much fun, even though it’s freezing. It’s good to know that everyone out here, including myself, who doesn’t personally know Jack, is coming out just to support him, and we are raising so much money which is so great.” Senior Peer Minister Sydney Lim
Among these CBA students, many other students and teachers would agree that the Jack Sheridan Flag Football Tournament was an amazing experience that helped Jack and his family. It also allowed us all to come together as one CBA family. And that, we are thankful for.
