Despite frigid temperatures, students accepted into the Christian Brothers Academy Class of 2019 gathered at the school with family and friends for CBA's Accepted Student Night on January 21, 2013. Principal Brother Joseph Jozwiak, FSC, welcomed the sixth graders, who came from over 43 Catholic, public and private schools in Central New York. CBA seniors Amanda Calabrese of Cicero and Cody Radziewicz of Manlius offered first-hand accounts of the CBA student experience. All were treated to a performance by the CBA Strings Players: Geoff Parkes '16, Sarah Boulos '17 and Hannah King joined CBA orchestra director Muriel Bodley. Attendees were serenaded as they entered by Milan Gupta '17 at the piano.
Five students were recognized as CBA Academic Scholars, each receiving a scholarship based on outstanding entrance exam results and an excellent academic record. Scholarship winners in attendance were:
Sang Baek Na, Fayetteville
Aidan Wheeler, Ed Smith School
Abigail Benware, St. Mary's Baldwinsville
Rachel Krul, Trinity Catholic
Alexander Heitman, St. Margaret's
Admissions Director Holly Dowd read the names of those accepted into the new class while the CBA Parents Club provided refreshments. Students and families had an opportunity to meet each other. A photo booth helped break the ice among the future classmates.
According to the school Principal, Brother Joseph Jozwiak, “The CBA Class of 2019 is an impressive group of young people from all over Central New York. They are bright. They are hard working. And they are already showing pride and enthusiasm for Christian Brothers Academy. We congratulate these students on their accomplishments and look forward to welcoming them to the halls of our Randall Road campus this fall."
