The CBA boys baseball team won the 2011 Greater Syracuse Baseball Association, Connie Mack league title on Sunday July 24th. Following the close of the regular summer season during which the Brothers competed against 10 other league teams, they won two consecutive playoff games to take the title at Fabius Pompey field on July 24th, beating Solvay 10-4 and Mexico-Pulaski 21-10 in the championship game.
In the first game against Solvay, Sean Lavin and Justin Brennan both homered. Jack Glover started as pitcher in both games yesterday, going about 4 innings in each game. Jack added strong offensive skills hitting a total of two triples and a double in the 90 degree heat. Veteran Coach John Glover's skillful game strategy contributed to the wins, as both defeated teams came to the playoffs in first place in their division. Mexico-Pulaski got into the final by beating Fabius, a team CBA lost to twice during the summer season.
League play began in late May, finishing with the playoffs this past weekend. The team, made up of players from 9th through 12th grades, was coached by John Glover, Bob Lavin and Steve Wiley who devoted countless hours to the successes enjoyed by each of the players and the team as a whole.
