On March 14, 2011, Christian Brothers Academy student Brendan McIntyre 11 was awarded a $1,000 AmeriCU Credit Union 2011 Scholarship for Outstanding Academy Achievement and Community Service. Candidates were evaluated on academic achievement, community service and an essay that described his/her career aspirations. The program was started as a means of assisting members to achieve their goals of higher education. This year, ten scholarships were awarded.
McIntyre impressed the nominating committee with an essay about how he was inspired by a boy with leukemia while volunteering with other CBA students at Camp Sunshine last summer. McIntyre hopes to be a physician and will be deciding soon from among several college acceptances as to where he will go this fall.
