The CBA community celebrated Founder’s Day on Monday, May 20 with a full-slate of activities.
The day kicked off in the gym as President Brother Joseph Jozwiak FSC talked to the students about the importance of Founder’s Day and a Lasallian education.
Students participated in an Amazing Race Homeroom challenge. The goal was for each homeroom to complete five challenges, which resulted in obtaining “Certificates of Completion.” The challenges included completing a math logic problem, an art scramble, a St. La Salle crossword puzzle, and a hoola hoop and music activity. A video was also part of the challenge, which showed students doing service.
Students headed to the gym, following the Amazing Race Homeroom challenge, where Rev. Ken Kirkman ’07 of St. Mary’s Church and St. Anthony of Padua Church in Cortland, was the celebrant at Mass. Members of the senior class participated in the Mass as readers and Eucharistic ministers. The Jubliee Group provided the music. Brother Joseph blessed the senior class. Senior Abigail Benware recited a poem and seniors Zoe’ Campanino and Maddie Winchelll, both sang. Principal Matt Keough addressed the class of 2019, highlighting various senior speeches.
Students, faculty and staff then had the opportunity to say good-bye to members of the senior class during an emotional walk-through in the gymnasium.
Other activities during the day included students leaving their mark in the form of a handprint on the wall in the cafeteria, and a trivia contest.
During the afternoon, the entire student body gathered on the football field to form a 300, commemorating the 300thanniversary of the passing of Saint John Baptist de LaSalle, Patron Saint of Teachers.
The day culminated in the gym with the senior video produced by Mary Reith, additional vocal performances by Campanino, Winchell, Cory Knox, and President Brother Joseph, who did his own rendition of “This Little Light Of Mine.”
