The CBA student body, staff and faculty joined Fr. Charles Fahey ’51 to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Lynch Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Fr. Fahey, a retired priest, assists at Mass at various parishes in the Diocese of Syracuse.
The Mass was the first of the new school year for the student body.
Peer Minister student coordinators and seniors Mary Kilmartin and Nate Griffith introduced this year’s Peer Ministry theme, “Reflect God’s Love” based upon Proverbs 27:19.

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart,” Kilmartin said. “We are made in the image and likeness of our Creator. God’s love resides in each one of us. Each of us is called to reflect the love of God from within, out to those we encounter.”
“Today’s liturgy is a Mass of the Holy Spirit,” Griffith said. “God’s Spirit will help us to mirror God’s love, as long as we are open to His Spirit working in our lives. To be a mirror of God is the highest honor to which we can aspire.
Many students participated in Mass including seniors Katelyn Wendt and Chris Bushnell, who did the readings, and juniors Jeff Phan and Shannon McMullen who read the general intercessions. Gift bearers were homeroom teachers representing each grade. They included: Mr. Wiese (7thgrade); Mr. Assaf (8thgrade); Ms. Infanti (9thgrade); Mrs. Mulholland (10thgrade); Mrs. Webster (11thgrade) and Mr. Conroy (12thgrade).
The orchestra and the Jubilee Chorus, which includes both students and faculty, along with some instrumental and vocal soloists, provided the music for the Mass.
Brothers Joseph Jozwiak and Gabe Fiumano ’47, and Sister Suzanne Dunn renewed their vows. Principal Matt Keough commissioned the senior class. The seniors were seated with their seventh-grade buddy at Mass.
