“Sweet on CBA” was the theme of this year’s celebration which directly benefits students of the school by helping to offset tuition costs, and thus ensuring that CBA remains accessible to those who desire a high caliber, college preparatory, Catholic education in the Lasallian tradition.
More than 300 silent auction and 19 live auction items were featured. Live auction items included: reserved front row graduation seats, a Florida Escape for February 2016, SU football season tickets, four tickets to a Notre Dame football game, a trip to New York City and a backyard graduation party. Also part of the live auction was “Raise Your Paddle.” During the year, teachers are asked to submit proposals for teaching aids or equipment that will directly benefit the students. This year’s “Raise Your Paddle” live-auction funds went to the Science and Technology Departments.
Over $50,000 was raised in the live auction alone in an atmosphere that was charged with excitement.
Senior Tony Do, who will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall, was this year’s featured student speaker. Do’s parents came to the United States from Vietnam in 1987 and said that when he was accepted six years ago, his parents beamed with delight. He thanked the crowd for their continued generosity.
“I am fortunate to have had a CBA education, ” Do said. “CBA has shaped me to who I have become today. It has been a part of our (my family) lives and our home away from home.”
