Christian Brothers Academy parent Robert Williams of Canastota, NY is the winner of the 24th Annual Corvette Raffle, sponsored by East Syracuse Chevrolet and bannerenvy.net.

Williams’ name was drawn by Principal Br. Joseph Jozwiak, FSC in front of students, faculty members and staff during a winter sports assembly in the John Lynch Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 9. Also on hand were Mike Barker of bannerenvy.net; and volunteers.

Williams’ winning ticket number was 025607. He can choose between the 2014 Crystal Red Corvette or the $35,000. His daughter, Christina, a freshman at CBA, won $150 for having her name written on the back of the ticket. Brother Joseph Jozwiak contacted Williams by phone to tell him that he was the winner.

“Is everything o.k. with my daughter,” Williams asked when Brother Joseph told him who he was and that he was calling from CBA to tell him that he won the raffle. “I’m shocked because I never win anything,” Williams said later.

The second prize winner of $1,000 was Robert Minkler of Amsterdam, NY (ticket number 058342). Winning third prize, which was $500, was Dwight Evans of Sherrill, NY (ticket number 009441).

All proceeds from the raffle help to benefit the Financial Aid and Scholarship programs at CBA.

“The Corvette raffle is one of CBA’s major fundraising events and something our school community looks forward to each year. It is a vital part of sustaining the outstanding programs and facilities we offer our students at CBA,” said Annemarie Mosley, Associate Director of Special Events and Programs. “We thank all of those who supported this year’s Corvette raffle, especially our parent volunteers, and we congratulate Robert Williams, this year’s winner.”
