The Christian Brothers Academy Drama Department will present “The King & I” on Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 7 p.m. each evening, at Nottingham High School Auditorium. This colorful and entertaining musical set in the 1800s tells the tale of Anna, a strong-willed British school teacher who travels to Siam, Thailand to tutor the King’s children and assist in his plan to modernize the country. Their relationship grows through conflict into a love that neither is able to express.

The musical features Sam Lim ’14 as the King and Rebecca Scullin ’12 as Anna. Other leading roles include Keith Huynh ’13 (Lun Tha), Kate Sheehan ’12 (Tuptim); Emily Doherty ’12 (Lady Thiang); Sal Zarrella ’16 (Chulalongkorn); Cole Speidel ’13 (Kralahome); Pat Tuohey ’14 (Phra Alack); Brian Jordan ’14 (Louis); Sidney Perkins ’13 (Sir Edward Ramsey) and Cameron MacPherson ’12 (Capt. Orton). More than 50 students in grades 7 through 12 are also featured in the show as royal wives, royal children, guards, and other members of the royal court.

(From L to R) Keith Huynh ’13, Becky Scullin ’12, Sam Lim ’14, Kate Sheehan ’12, and Christine Carolyn Calimlim ’15.

“The King & I” is directed by Eugene Moretti with musical direction by Bob Caraher. The show is produced by Laurine Feldmeth, choreographed by Christina Nicoletti Cierek ’96, and costumed by Elaine Caraher. Michael Caccamo is the technical director.

Tickets are $8/each through the CBA main office or at the door if available. For more information, call 315-446-5960 or go to www.cbasyracuse.org.
