Christian Brothers Academy held a Global Culture Assembly on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. The entire student body gathered to celebrate different cultures from around the world and included a vast array of student and professional speakers and performers such as African drum corps, Irish dancers, Spanish poetry readings, Salsa dancers, and Middle Eastern dancers, to name a few.
Students spoke the famous words of Mahatma Gandi, “I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. Let us work together for unity and love.” These words were translated and spoken in a number of different languages, which included Swahili, Italian, French, German, Swiss, Ukrainian, Japanese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Telugu, Hebrew, and Arabic.
Nora Hakizimana 12 (Syracuse), originally from Congo, was Emcee for the annual event.
The celebration concluded with a performance by the CBA Dance Team and enthusiastic applause from students and faculty in attendance.
