CBA Wrestlers Win Sectional Titles
Congratulations to CBA Varsity Wrestlers and Team Captains JT Romagnoli 13 and Aaron Benedict 12 who were victorious at the Section III Wrestling Championships held February 12, 2011, at the Utica Auditorium.
Romagnoli captured the title in the 130-pound division. Benedict won the 140-pound class. Wrestling for a CBA team that has only existed for two years, both defeated opponents with more than 100 career victories each. Both Romagnoli and Benedict have been making headlines in their hometown, as they are the first Cazenovia residents to win section titles in wrestling in 45 years.
The success of the current CBA wrestling team is renewing a cherished tradition of excellence in varsity wrestling dating back to the 70s. The sport was brought back 3 seasons ago in a combined CBA-Solvay team and has been combined with Jamesville DeWitt the last 2 seasons. They ended this season with an 11-5 dual meet record, bettering last years record, with wins over several well established programs. The team defeated Cazenovia, Cooperstown, ESM, Morrisville, Cortland, Marcellus, Tully, FM, and Homer.
