
Congrats State Champs!!!
The girls lacrosse team captured the school’s fourth state championship in the sport by defeating Penfield, 10-15 at SUNY Cortland on Saturday.
CBA has sent teams to the State Final Four in Class A, B or C seven of the past eight years, winning the first A championship in 2016, the B crown in 2013 and the C title in 2011.
The Brothers finish the 2018 campaign with an 18-3 record.
After topping West Genesse 6-4 for the Sectional Title on May 22, CBA defeated Ithaca, 11-7 in regional play and West Islip, 13-8 in the semifinals, to return to the title game.
In the championship game, seniors Grace Hulslander and Claire Jeschke scored three goals, and senior Olivia Penoyer added two. Junior goalie Iris Vinal had seven saves on the day. Vinal and the Brother defense held Penfield to just two goals in the second half.
Penoyer was named MVP of the tournament. Named to the all-tournament team were: Penoyer, Hulslander, Vinal and Ali Anderson. Anna Ziemba was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
