Senior Lauren DeLorenzo is not only a top student at CBA, but also one of the top students in the country. Recently, DeLorenzo was recognized as a finalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program, a distinction that places her in the top 1% of students in the nation.
Over 1.5 million students took the 2012 Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in October 2012. DeLorenzo was selected as one of 16,000, making the Semifinalist cut. From there, she was distinguished as a National Merit Scholar Finalist, putting her in competition for one of the highly coveted National Merit Scholarships, which total more than $34 million.
DeLorenzo recently attended the prestigious “Reilly Visitation Program” at the University of Notre Dame. Invitations to the Reilly Visitation Program are given to a select group of students. Chosen from among the top one-percent of the applicant pool, Reilly invitees demonstrate an impressive academic record, along with intellectual curiosity, strong leadership skills, and dedication to extracurricular activities. In addition to her acceptance to Notre Dame, DeLorenzo has been accepted to University of Rochester and Le Moyne. She is waiting to hear on other applications, including MIT, Harvard and Princeton.
DeLorenzo, a Fayetteville resident, will be recognized for her academic achievements at CBA’s annual Scholastic Honors Night on March 20.
