With the winter sports season in full gear, here’s a look back on the success of our fall athletic teams.

The football team finished with a 5-4 record, and ended their season with a loss to Baldwinsville in the Sectional Quarterfinals. The girls soccer team completed the season at 9-6-2 and lost in the Sectional Semifinals to Jamesville Dewitt. It was another successful season for the boys soccer team, as they ended up with a 14-3-1 record and lost to Baldwinsville in the Sectional Semifinals. Goalie Mike Smith was named to the All-CNY team and was also a CNY Central Athlete of the Week.

Annie Fletcher, Julia Torell and Samantha Lanzafame all qualified for states for the girls swimming and diving team. The Brothers ended the season 3-4-1. Alison Croucher and Sarah Roberts made it to the state qualifiers in girls tennis, as the team finished the season with a 10-3 record.

The cross country teams finished with a 2-3 record. Dominic Morganti competed in the NYS Federation Cross Country Championships. He qualified for the event by being the top Section III and 9th overall finisher in the state meet in Class C. The boys golf team went perfect in the league with a 9-0 record (12-1 overall). Jack Bellardini was the individual medalist for the entire field at the Section III tournament. Bellardini shot a 73, four strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

Winter sports are at the midway point of the season. As of Tuesday, Jan. 13, the boys basketball team, ranked No. 19 in the State, is off to an 8-1 start this season, including a huge win over JD. The Brothers will meet Bishop Ludden in the Holy War at Onondaga Community College this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The teams will be decked out in retro uniforms (CBA-Sacred Heart and Ludden-St. Patrick’s). Head coach Buddy Wleklinski, who received the fall “Believe To Achieve” Award, will be inducted into the State High School Hall of Fame in March.

The girls basketball team, also ranked at No. 19 in the State, is 6-3 this season. The CBA/JD Ice Hockey team is currently ranked No. 1 in Division II and No. 3 in the State and is 9-1-2.

Head girls varsity volleyball coach Greg Jewett captured his 300th career win in December. The team is 8-6. The bowling teams are 2-3 so far this season.
