CBA fall student-athletes hit the fields, courts and courses last week. Here’s a recap of the action.
In football, seniors J.R. Zazzara and DeShawn Salter accounted for four touchdowns to lead the Brothers to a 56-32 win against Union-Endicott in the Kickoff Classic at the Carrier Dome. The Brothers travel to Utica-Proctor on Friday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
The girls soccer team went 1-1 last week, losing to Homer 1-0 and defeating Fulton 1-0. Samantha McKenna scored the lone goal in the victory. The girls host Mexico on Tuesday and travel to Cortland on Thursday.
The boys soccer team won both of its games last week. Matt DePerro and Matt Stedman each chipped in goals for a 2-1 win over Skaneateles. In the 2-1 victory against Fulton, DePerro and Monte Sherman tossed in a goal each. The boys are at East Syracuse-Minoa on Tuesday and at Fowler on Friday.
The girls tennis team won both of its matches last week, topping Jamesville-Dewitt 5-1 and Chittenango 5-2. Sarah Roberts and Elizabeth Sasser won their first doubles match, while Evie Lopoo was victorious in third singles. Against Chittenango, Meghan Macri (first singles), Mikayla Santulli (second singles) and Evie Lopoo (third singles) won their matches. Roberts and Sasser won in first doubles, and Alison Croucher and Anna Kambhampaty were winners in second doubles.
In boys golf, Jack Bellardini posted a low score of 34, followed by Sam Little who shot a 41, as the team defeated Lafayette 208-270. The team meets Fulton on Monday, followed with matches against Tully on both Wednesday and Friday.
In other fall sports action this week, the girls swimming team opens up the season at Liverpool on Tuesday.
