Getting To Know Eighth Grader Rati Saini
Junior Anna Kambhampaty recently sat down with eighth grader Rati Saini. Rati is from Baldwinsville.
Q: What afterschool activities do you take part in?
A: “I have been part of the varsity tennis team since seventh grade but have been playing tennis seriously since fourth grade. I’ve played piano since I was in second grade; I’ve done NYSSMA levels one through four. I also love to cook and write!”
Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?
A: “Probably the youtuber G Hannelius. I really like her because she is a celebrity, but she’s still pretty young and relatable. She does a lot of charity work, which I really admire, and she has a really spunky, individual personality.”
Q: If you could change any one thing about the world, what would it be?
A: “I would change the way people think about each other and how people act based on other people’s thoughts. I think that people, especially kids my age, like to just ‘go with the flow’ and stick with what other people will approve of instead of just being themselves and embracing who they are and what they like.”
Q: If you were a color, which color would you be?
A: “I think I would be blue because it reminds me of oceans, and I love the beach. Also, I think it’s kind of a calm color- I like to keep my cool.”
Q: What do you plan on doing after you finish high school?
A: “I want to go to college at maybe Georgetown or Stanford University. I’d like to become a psychiatrist because I’m a social person, and I’d want to do something where I could help people. Psychiatry is a stable field that offers that.”
