CBA has awarded Kathleen Hanson as Lasallian Educator of the Year for the 2018-19 school year.
Hanson, the Director of Counseling Services, was nominated by her colleagues and was presented with the award at Scholastic Honors Night on April 4.
Hanson has demonstrated excellence as an educator at CBA since she was hired as Junior High School Counselor in 1997. Since that time, her wisdom, leadership and guidance has led her to several different roles within the school, including High School Counselor, Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs, and Middle School Administrator.
“It is an incredible honor to receive the Lasallian Educator of the Year award from my colleagues,” Hanson shared. “I am so grateful to those who have mentored and guided me along the way and thank everyone who has been part of my Lasallian journey – our amazing administration, faculty and staff, parents, students, and my own family. Thank you!”
The Lasallian Educator of the Year Award is given to a faculty member who exemplifies the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Eligible nominees must have been a Lasallian educator for at least five years and be actively involved in fostering the mission of Lasallian education, and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the Lasallian tradition.
“Kathleen has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially students,”said colleague Chris Dopkowski. “In her current role as Director of Counseling Services, she has transformed the environment and culture of the Counseling Office to be a welcoming place where every single student feels appreciated, heard and supported. She cares deeply about all CBA students and their families.”
