CBA Peer Educators coordinated the second annual Mental Health Awareness Week May 6-10.
A variety of activities throughout the week helped raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental illness, including daily announcements and messages. Peer Educators visited classrooms each day and gave a one-minute talk on mental illness.
The week culminated on Friday with a TED-talk style assembly after school, in which more than 400 students attended. The Keynote Speaker was Shane Brown, Licensed Social Worker/Therapist. Faculty speakers included Vin Horan and Robert Michael Calimlim ’07. Student speakers were Jessa Davidson, Will Laun, Eliza Hanson, Jared Mitchell, Philly Latorre and MP Geiss. In addition, seniors Zoe’ Campanino and Maddie Winchell performed Andra Day’s “Rise Up.”
