Senior running back Deshawn Salter received a Believe To Achieve Award from the Syracuse Sports Corporation at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Salter was the recipient of the top fall male athlete award. The award recognizes meritorious contribution to the Central New York Sports Community. Salter, who will attend Yale in the fall, was a third-team Class AA All-State football selection and a two-time All-Central New York choice.
“This award is an amazing honor,” Salter said. “There is a lot of hard work that goes into this and it’s great to see the fruits of your labor pay off.”
Believe to Achieve was founded by Gary Bugenhagen, Syracuse Sports Corporation member and former Syracuse University football player. This event is sponsored by Hunt Real Estate ERA and The Pen and Trophy Center.
“This initiative is an example of the depth of our sports community,” said Jeff Mickle, Sports Development Director for the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The presentation of these awards marks the hard work and commitment of individuals and teams whose contributions to Central New York are immeasurable.”
