img_0773Students displayed their true CBA spirit recently as they dressed up in red, white and blue for ‘Murica Monday; were decked out in grass skirts, and colorful shirts and hats on Tropical Tuesday; put on their wackiest and tackiest outfits on Wacky Wednesday; donned their favorite outfits from yesteryear for Throwback Thursday and sported their Homecoming t-shirts and purple and gold on Friday, in celebration of Homecoming.

On Friday afternoon (Sept. 30),students, faculty and staff gathered in the Lynch gymnasium, for a pep assembly.  Seniors Taylor Kirschenheiter and Ja’nayza Hunt emceed the event.  Seniors Dan Damico, Toby OKong’o, Dan Mosher and Zach Popp competed for Mr. CBA. In a close competition, OKong’o’s singing drew the biggest and loudest applause from the student body, and he was voted this year’s Mr. CBA. Each of the fall athletic teams was also introduced.

New York State Senator John DeFrancisco ’64 and a representative from New York State Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter (128th District) honored the 2016 State Champion girls lacrosse team, and the girls 4 x 400 relay team with proclamations. The girls lacrosse team captured the Class A State Title in June, defeating Pittsford 11-6. It was the third state title for the team, which finished the season nationally ranked and undefeated. The 4 x 400 Relay team included two seniors (Anna Schug and Kate LaCasse), a sophomore (Clare Bargabos) and an eighth grader (Olivia Morganti). It was the first state title for a 4 x 400 girls relay team at CBA.

Spirit week culminated with an Alumni Tailgate and 41-0 Homecoming football win over Fayetteville-Manlius. In what has become a tradition at every football game, the spirited student section chanted the “I Believe” cheer and tossed purple and gold powder in the air.

Seniors DeAndre Dowdell (offense) and Dan Damico (defense) were named the Alumni Association’s Most Valuable Players.  Junior Stevie Scott was named Most Outstanding Player of the game.
