Seventh graders Grace Getman and Meghan Graber will represent CBA at the Post-Standard/WCNY Spelling Bee, which will be held at Onondaga Community College on January 19.
Thirty-five CBA students competed in the written spelling bee portion of the test. Getman advanced to the semifinals with her winning word “curmudgeon.” Graber's winning word was “awry.”
The semi-final round, which will also be a written test, features two students from each local school. The top 35 finishers from that competition will advance to the finals, which will be an oral spelling bee test on February 2 at WCNY Studios.
