The Robotics team will compete in the Northern New York State Tournament at the SRC Arena on March 6.
The team, which had to build and program in a completely new and more challenging form of robotics this year, has already competed in three regional tournaments in the 2015-16 VEX competition called “Nothing but Net” and has fared well. The team went up against schools/clubs from all across the region at the Liverpool Competition in November; the RFA Battle in December; and just this past month, at the Syracuse City School Competition.
At the Syracuse City School Competition, the main core of the team (Peter Assaf, Kevin Craig, Chad Charette, Ethan Hunt, Andrew Goldberg, Jacob Swanson and Vince Carno) finished in the middle of the pack of 33 teams. They showed off their skills in programming and driving earlier in the day, and competed in qualification rounds and an elimination style tournament. They also had to show and explain their robot design and programming development through an engineering notebook.
Other members of the team that have also contributed to the final product and have competed at earlier tournaments include: Geoff Parkes, Dom Allen, David Goodwin, Dan Kelly, Lucy Person, and Olivia Ojubeli.
Team advisors are faculty members Luke Ribaudo and Griffin Harmon.
