Summer Sizzle At CBA
Christian Brothers Academy 2013 Summer Sizzle camps offered something for everyone in July and August. Hundreds of students from all over Central New York participated in more than 20 different academic and athletic camps and workshops put on by various CBA coaches and faculty members.
College and SAT Math prep, creative writing workshops, study skills, crime scene investigations, sports, kickboxing and yoga were some of the many offerings at CBA’s Summer Sizzle. Faculty member Vicki Mannion guided students through the process of writing their personal statement for their college application at a three-day workshop. The Creative Writing Camp, under the instruction of librarian Karen Shull, taught students how to write short stories, novels, screenplays and plays. Faculty member Michael Marciano offered Start Smart Study Skills to incoming 7th graders preparing for the rigorous CBA curriculum. Crime Scene Investigation Camp, instructed by faculty member Melanie Brasor gave students an opportunity to learn how to gather evidence at a crime scene. The 21st annual Mr. B’s Co-educational basketball instructional camp, under the direction of former CBA athletics director and coach, Gary Barnaba, drew over 150 participants. CBA head coaches Joe Casamento and Joe Papleo ’75 hosted football and soccer camps. Varsity assistant coach Matt Keough and Modified Assistant coach Todd Benware offered a unique opportunity for players entering 7-12 grades to enhance their infield play at Infielder’s Baseball Camp. CBA hosts Summer Sizzle every summer. Faculty member Joseph Assaf is the Program Coordinator. |
