Junior High

The following counseling services are available in the Junior High School. 

Counseling Services

  • Individual and small group counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Peer facilitation and mediation

Classroom Guidance

  • Academic planning and goal-setting
  • Organization, planning, studying, and test-taking skills
  • Peer relationships and effective social skills
  • Communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution
  • Career awareness and exploration
  • Substance abuse awareness


  • Parental support and community referrals
  • Consultation with home school districts regarding educational testing or Individual education plan (IEP)/504 Plan services
  • Consultation and collaboration with teachers, administrators, community agencies, and other service providers


  • Student and parent orientation programs
  • Student schedules including course placement and selection (world languages and musical performance)
  • Special programs (i.e. Red Ribbon Week, Mix-it-Up Day, Middle School Month, “Reverse” Career Fair, etc.)
  • Peer Tutoring
  • New York State assessments (Grade 8)
  • ACT’s EXPLORE test (Grade 8)
