The choral program at CBA is designed to help young men and women find their voice, learn to work as an ensemble and share their gifts and talents with their community. Chorus presents two school concerts each year in December and in the spring. In addition, our chorus has been featured at musical events around our city including Christmas From Dublin with Bob Halligan Jr. ’71, the Syracuse Irish Festival and the Everson Festival of Trees. Chorus has performed at the OnCenter, the Carrier Dome, Destiny USA and Funk n’ Waffles.
Junior High Chorus
Junior High Chorus is a graded course offered to students in grades 7-8 for .5 credit. This program continues the foundation students received in elementary music and chorus. New singers are also welcome to come and develop their voices. Young singers learn to hear and sing in 2, 3 and 4 part harmony, and are guided through this time of vocal development and change.
Senior High Chorus
Senior High Chorus is a graded course offered to students in grades 9-12. New singers are welcome. Students work specifically on singing in multiple languages and learning about the world through multicultural selections. Senior High Chorus students learn to sing a cappella selections and use vocal and body percussion. Students interested in Junior or Senior High Chorus should speak with their guidance counselor.
Select Chorus is an auditioned ensemble of singers from the Senior High Chorus. Select Chorus meets after school. Auditions are held in September of each school year.
All chorus students attend regular voice lessons as part of the curriculum. CBA students have participated in the New York State School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Festival, Onondaga All County Chorus, Zone 3 Area All State Chorus, and Conference All State Chorus.
Students who are specifically interested in leading praise and worship music are encouraged to participate in Jubilee. Jubilee is an ensemble of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals, which provides music for our school liturgies. Jubilee is an after school activity open to all students in grades 7-12.
