CBA Community Celebrates First Mass of The New School Year

The CBA student body, staff and faculty joined Father John Manno Pastor of Holy Family Parish in Fairmount and Vicar of Priests for the Diocese of Syracuse, to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Lynch Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Monsignor Ron Bill ’49 AFC assisted with Mass.

The Mass was the first of the new school year for the student body.

The Peer Ministers, led by student coordinators and seniors Cooper Marko and Sydney Vaughn introduced this year’s theme, “Find Your Wings; Soar Together!” based on Isaiah 40:31, which says, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings.”

“We all have wings that will help us to become the best version of ourselves,” Vaughn said. “This year let us strive to discover our gifts and talents and work to soar with our classmates, our families, and our community.”

“Today’s liturgy is a Mass of the Holy Spirit,” Marko said. “God’s Spirit will help us to recognize our gifts and talents. As long as we are open to God’s Spirit, our lives can be transformed for the good. And so, we gather here this morning to remember and to celebrate God’s presence here amongst us and to be strengthened by His word and His presence in the Eucharist.

Many students participated in Mass as readers, altar servers and instrumentalists and vocal soloists.

Principal Paul Gasparini commissioned the senior class. The seniors were seated with their seventh-grade buddy at Mass.

Brother Joseph Jozwiak, FSC and Sister Suzanne Dunn renewed their vows.

Following the Mass, President Matt Keough honored Brother Joseph, who is leaving CBA Syracuse for CBA Albany.
